FeenPhone dedicated server worked great!

1

UPDATE: AFTER ALL THE WORK WE DID ON THIS, IT TURNED OUT TO BE TOO LOUD TO BE IN A RADIO STUDIO, WE SOLD IT. We got a much quieter one we’re working on.

So, yesterday FeenPhone programmer Derrick Slopey worked on the physical setup, operating system install and configuring on theĀ Dell PowerEdge 2950 dedicated server we bought used on Amazon. This server will be shipped to our radio network in Minnesota to install in their racks to run FeenPhone from there as a full-on network connection to do Freedom Feens shows. This will be an ongoing test of using no-cost software to replace the need for every show on a radio network to spend two grand on a codec box. (The setup post is HERE.)
.
Today Derrick added the sound card, configured it, set up a mix-minus on his mixer, and we did a 1.5 hour call with Derrick, Lousander and I all connected. It sounded stellar, even better than when using my computer at home as the server. (Must be that 16 gigs of RAM and two beefy processors on the Dell.) We did it as if doing a show, Derrick sent us music, Lou and I talked over it coming in from a “break”, Derrick talked to us as a board op might during a break. All stellar.

  1. If Feen Phone were not amazing enough, this is over the top. Who is thinking all this stuff up? if this is accessible by anyone, it could go a long way toward live liberty broadcasting 24/7.

Do you and Derrick Slopey ever sleep?
