Mic no longer working on Windows 10 ? – Here’s the Solution. (For FeenPhone and for all apps).
Click the Feen bird to download FeenPhone:
IMPORTANT: Development has stopped. And there is no support. But FeenPhone works well.
Why did we stop? No one donated and many many people screamed at us demanding this or that. We did a cost/benefit analysis, and decided to move on to things that make money and/or where people don’t scream at us. But FeenPhone works well, for what it does, so get it. And I’ve written extensive support materials on the site. People who are smart and actually read the how-material shouldn’t need support.
FeenPhone has been tested on Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit), Windows 8 and Windows 10. It works well on all. It even works on Vista. We’re run FeenPhone well on Windows Server 2012. It does not work on XP or any Windows version before Vista. It will run on any Windows version from Vista forward. If you want to run FeenPhone on a Mac, read this. Or this.
Read the Full Manual or at least the Quick-Start guide for info on how to set up and use FeenPhone. Using FeenPhone is not difficult, but it’s a bit different from many programs. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. NO MATTER HOW TECH-SAVVY YOU ARE, THIS PROGRAM WILL LIKELY NOT WORK FOR YOU UNLESS YOU READ THE MANUAL. Especially the part about completely exiting Skype before using FeenPhone, and the part about having a port forwarded before you try to use FeenPhone. And the part about that you MUST use headphones with FeenPhone.
If you had another version of FeenPhone installed, uninstall it first before installing this version.

FeenPhone is currently Windows only. There is no Linux, Mac or Android version yet. If you want one, make one. Please let us know if you do (or if you make improvements to the Windows code) by posting a comment below.
Great idea. But Windows only for something that is all about freedom is not cool. Get some penguin in your life and be truly free. Anyway I might have a look when it gets on github. What framework do you use for the UI? Is it cross platform?
FeenPhone for Linux next would be great! Mac too! Android bonus!
David,
That would be sweet! But it’s an inordinately expensive proposition for us to just “do”, since we only have a Windows programmer on our team, and I’m far short of raising enough money to pay him to even make all the planned improvements in Windows.
If you can program for those OSs, by all means, please, make ’em! It’s open source. Let us know when you’re done and we’ll link it. Thank you!
If not, make a donation please, we’ll put it to improving the Windows version, and that will be a good code and function template for those other languages when someone decides to do them.

Where’s the source code? I want to look at it, maybe work on porting to Linux, etc
Hi David,
It’s here:
http://feenphone.com/?page_id=239
But we’ll have a much more robust version of it in the next few days. I’ll drop you an email when it’s up. Also should have a protocol guide post for developers.
Thanks!

Call me when it’s available for Linux (Kubuntu)

Hi,
I will try this out, it sounds very promising, I heard about it on freetalk live.
Me and my partner is producing a podcast in Swedish.

Cool! let us know if you need help setting it up.
MWD
We really believe in FeenPhone and wanna see it do well, and considering all the help you’ve given us, donating is the least we could do 🙂
thank you!
You may want to make the download button say download, took me a min to find it . 😀 its the BIG YELLOW BIRD button just in case anyone else was looking for it.
It’s an intelligence test CAPTCHA. lol.
You passed.
We only want smart people using our software to sound better. Seriously. Everyone else should keep doing what they’re doing.
When you get it set up, I’d love to come on your show and talk about FeenPhone, over FeenPhone.

we’ve got the lapel mic you recommended. and some crappy headphones. would this work?
Charles,
That’s not ideal and I’ve never tried a lapel mic for talk radio….I like to be able to “work” the mic, i.e. get further and closer as I get louder or quieter.
But I’d certainly love to hear an MP3 of the results. Let me know if you get it working and can record it.
Thanks!
MWD
Can I donate to whomever is working on the Linux version of feenphone? I’d like to support their efforts as well as the main project.
Tom,
In the next few months hope to begin a cross-platform implementation.
So just send the donation to us.

I am the producer of a newly aired talk show webcast originating from New Britain, CT. On Thursdays & Fridays, the co-host appears on the show via Skype from Norwich, CT. Well, today was the first day of that arrangement and the audio was HORRIBLE! Will FeenPhone work laptop to laptop? ? ?
yes it can. If it’s Windows Vista or later.
Is it audio & video or audio only? ? ?
I’m not going to read this website to you. Last answer you get (which you could have found on the first page, just like your first question): it’s audio only.
Sorry. Hasn’t been a good day. . .
